The AUA Team has been awarded with the 2rd prize in ECOTROPHELIA 2023 with the product Ceres Ale
The Agricultural University of Athens participated successfully in the 13th National Competition ECOTROPHELIA 2023, which aims at promoting innovation in the Greek Food Industry sector and is organized by The Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT).
Students from all Greek Universities were invited to develop innovative and ecological food products, on the basis of novelty and market sustainability. This year, 11 groups of students from 10 Greek Universities reached the final phase. The new products were presented on Wednesday the 21th June 2023 in front of members of the academic community and the food industry sector.
The team of the Agricultural University of Athens, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, comprising the students Ilias Karaman-Lozos, Aggeliki Katsiroumpa, Alexandra Kokkali and Kyriaki-Vasiliki Koutoula, with the guidance of Dr. Georgia Zoumpopoulou and Prof. Effie Tsakalidou, excelled in this year's competition by winning the 2nd prize, with the product Ceres Ale that stood out for its unique composition. It is a functional beer, an ally of health with a unique taste and probiotic properties, thanks to the incorporation of the lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus brevis ACA-DC 1705 in the conventional beer fermentation.
