Final Meeting of the European HEI GreenPath Project at the Agricultural University of Athens
On 18 September 2026, the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) hosted the final meeting of the European project HEI GreenPath – Shaping HEI Environment for a Sustainable Tomorrow, a European cooperation initiative focusing on the integration of green skills into social sciences education and the promotion of sustainability in higher education.
HEI GreenPath is implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education and brings together five Higher Education Institutions from Greece, Poland, Cyprus, Slovenia and Malta, with the common objective of contributing to a more sustainable university environment.
As part of the final meeting, representatives of the partner institutions met with the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Emmanouil Flemetakis. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the project and the cooperation developed among the partners, the importance of integrating sustainability and green skills into university education as well as opportunities for continuing their European collaboration in the future.
During the meeting, the partners presented and evaluated the project's results and discussed ways to further exploit them beyond the completion of GreenPath. Project activities included the integration of green skills into existing university courses in the social sciences as well as the development of relevant educational materials and tools by the participating institutions.
In this context, the Agricultural University of Athens integrated green skills into the courses “Digital Marketing”, “History of the Agricultural World” and “Sociology”, developing and using relevant educational material to support their teaching.
The completion of HEI GreenPath does not mark the end of the collaboration. The partners have already expressed their interest in continuing their joint efforts through new European initiatives, building on the experience and results of GreenPath to further strengthen sustainability in higher education.
