Training Seminars of the Cyclades Chamber in collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens.

         Undoubtedly, it is a great achievement that more than 700 participants have attended the new round of training seminars on pruning and grafting on the vine, organized by the Chamber of the Cyclades, in cooperation with the Agricultural University of Athens. Indeed, during the two seminars held, issues related to good pruning practices have been analyzed, depending on the variety, the appropriate season and the special climatic conditions prevailing in the Cyclades islands, as well as the needs that led to the development of that horticultural technique called grafting, the most efficient methods, the most important grafting techniques of the vine and the factors that affect them, too.

         Besides, it is worth mentioning that such seminars aim at both highlighting and utilizing the agri-food wealth of the Cyclades. Along these lines, two additional seminars will take place upon the protection of cultivated plants (vegetables, citrus fruits, olive trees and vines) from the various diseases and problems caused by insects and mites, on the following dates and times:

• Wednesday,  March 2  2022,  18.00-20.00

“The main diseases of vegetables, citrus fruits and vines in the Cyclades”, Epaminondas Paplomatas, the Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Phytopathology of the Agricultural University of Athens, having the role of the lecturer.

• Wednesday,  March 9  2022,   18.00-20.00

 “Αnimal enemies of cultivated plants and their integrated management”, George Papadoulis, the Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Agricultural Zoology and Entomology of the Agricultural University of Athens, acting as the lecturer.

         These seminars are addressed to any interested party that is active in the field of primary sector, agri-food and gastronomy in the Cyclades, in addition to being held through the digital platform of the Cyclades Chamber.
