Professor of the Agricultural University of Athens appointed Chairperson of the IOBC-Global Working Group “Ecology of Aphidophaga”

Professor Nikolaos G. Kavallieratos of the Agricultural University of Athens has been appointed Chairperson of the Working Group “Ecology of Aphidophaga” of the International Organisation for Biological Control (IOBC – Global). More information about the Working Group here.
The Working Group coordinates a series of international scientific meetings focused on the ecology and behavior of aphidophagous insects, significantly contributing to the advancement of biological control research and sustainable pest management practices.
The “Ecology of Aphidophaga” series began in 1965 and 1984 in Czechoslovakia, and has since been hosted in several countries, including Poland (1987), Hungary (1990), France (1993), Belgium (1996), Canada (1999 and 2019), Portugal (2002), Czech Republic (2004), Greece (2007), Italy (2010 and 2025), Serbia (2013), Germany (2016) and Spain (2022). The next symposium is scheduled for 2028.
Professor N. G. Kavallieratos successfully organized the Ecology of Aphidophaga 10 meeting at the Agricultural University of Athens in 2007. Selected papers from that conference were published, following peer review, in the prestigious European Journal of Entomology. Read the published papers here.
His appointment as Chairperson of the Working Group represents an international recognition of both Professor Kavallieratos’ scientific contribution and the Agricultural University of Athens’ active role in the field of biological control and integrated pest management.
