Presentation Event of the New Units of the Directorate of Internationalization, Mobility and Student Welfare at the Agricultural University of Athens

The Presentation Event of the New Units of the Directorate of Internationalization, Mobility and Student Welfare of the Agricultural University of Athens was successfully held on Friday, 29 May 2026, at the Library Amphitheatre of the University. The event showcased the mission, services and activities of the Equal Access Unit and the Student Support Unit, which encompasses the Career Office and the Internship Office.
The event was opened by Professor of Applied Hydrobiology Eleni Miliou, Vice Rector for European University Affairs, Internationalization and Student Welfare of the Agricultural University of Athens and Scientific Coordinator of the projects “Support for Equal Access Interventions for Students with Disabilities and Other Special Educational Needs in the Departments of the Agricultural University of Athens in the Region of Central Greece”, “Support for Equal Access Interventions for Students with Disabilities and Other Special Educational Needs in the Departments of the Agricultural University of Athens in the Region of Attica”, and “Student Support Services for the Integration of AUA Students into the Labour Market.” In her address, Professor Miliou highlighted the importance of the newly established support structures for the University’s students and graduates, emphasizing their contribution to enhancing student welfare, counselling services, inclusion, outreach and the strengthening of the University’s links with the labour market.
Subsequently, Virginia Maria Tsourou, responsible for the administrative support of the Departments located in Attica, presented the structure, services and activities of the Equal Access Unit for the Region of Attica. Melina Niniadou, administrative officer of the project supporting students of the Departments in Central Greece, presented the corresponding services and activities of the Equal Access Unit in the Region of Central Greece.
Chrysoula Karagkouni, Special Education Teacher, presented proposed educational accommodations aimed at ensuring equal access to education for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs enrolled in the University’s Departments in Central Greece. In addition, Fotini Kargioti, Librarian, presented the procedures through which educational materials are adapted and formatted to ensure accessibility for students with print disabilities.
The event continued with a presentation of the work, services and activities of the Career Office by Dimitra Georgiadi, with particular emphasis on career and entrepreneurship counselling, labour market networking initiatives and support services for students and graduates. The objectives and expected outcomes of the Office’s activities were also outlined. During the event, Loukas Michalis presented the new Career Office website, which serves as a modern platform for information, guidance and support for the academic community.
Finally, Aikaterini Atsalinou and Fotini Panagiotidou presented the work, services and activities of the Internship Office. Their presentation focused on the Office’s sub-projects, establishment, current organizational structure and staffing, the objectives of internship placements and the available internship implementation schemes. The Office’s website and social media presence were also presented, highlighting its collaboration with students and external stakeholders.
The event reaffirmed the Agricultural University of Athens’ commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment, supporting student development and employability, and strengthening the connection between higher education and the labour market.
