Presentation of the Circolive Program by the Agricultural University of Athens at the FOODEXPO 2025 Conference

Date:
Tuesday 13 May 2025

At the conference organized by the Panhellenic Association of Food Technologists titled “Approaching Food Production – New Technologies, Sustainable Development, Extroversion,” held as part of FOODEXPO 2025 on March 8 at the Metropolitan Expo Center, Assistant Professor Chrysavgi Gardeli from the Agricultural University of Athens participated as a speaker.

During the third discussion panel, which focused on olive oil, Dr. Gardeli presented the project "Circolive – Developing skills for introducing circular business models and digital technologies in the olive oil sector," an innovative initiative aiming to support the EU’s transition to a circular economy by strengthening circular business skills in olive oil production across Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.

The Agricultural University of Athens is a project partner, and the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with institutions from the five countries involved. Its goal is to highlight the development potential of sustainable practices in olive oil production, contributing to waste reduction and the utilization of by-products in the sector.

Dr. Gardeli’s participation underscores the importance of linking academic knowledge with industry, offering innovative solutions for a more sustainable future in the agri-food sector.
