Official Naming of Lecture Hall C as “Sofia Corradi” Lecture Hall

During Graduation Week, on Wednesday, December 17, the official naming ceremony of Lecture Hall C as the “Sofia Corradi” Lecture Hall took place at the Agricultural University of Athens, as a tribute to the “mother” of the Erasmus program, which has brought together millions of students, as well as academic and administrative staff, from across Europe and beyond.

On the occasion of the installation of the new plaque, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens was photographed together with the Vice-Rectors, as well as with the President of the Department of Biotechnology and Dean of the School of Applied Biology and Biotechnology, Mrs. Eleni Douni, symbolically marking the naming of the lecture hall.

This year’s incoming Erasmus students also had a special presence at the ceremony, adding a strong international character to the event, in full alignment with the spirit and values of the Erasmus program.

The event concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a tasting of traditional dishes from the home countries of the Erasmus students, who personally presented the delicacies. Notably, the students chose to address the audience in Greek, which serves as a tangible demonstration of the important work carried out by the University’s Foreign Languages Office.

With the naming of the “Sofia Corradi” Lecture Hall, the Agricultural University of Athens reaffirms its enduring commitment to internationalization, outreach, and the promotion of European values in higher education.
