Final event of the Project "Blue Career Centre for Aquaculture Education supported by a gamification approach and distance learning platform (BlueAquaEdu)"

Date:
Tuesday 23 Dec 2025

The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), as a partner and coordinator of the project “Blue Career Centre for Aquaculture Education supported by a gamification approach and distance learning platform (BlueAquaEdu)”, organised the project’s Final event. The event was dedicated to the future of aquaculture-related professions and was held at the Auditorium of the University Library on Monday, 8 December.

The BlueAquaEdu project is implemented under the EMFAF-2023-BlueCareers programme, co-funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No. 101124699, and aims to strengthen blue skills in aquaculture. The project promotes the linkage between education and industry, enhancing the skills required for career development in the aquaculture sector.

The Vice-Rector for the European University, Internationalization and Student Affairs of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Eleni Miliou, who also serves as the Project Coordinator of BlueAquaEdu, delivered a welcoming address and presented the objectives and scope of the project.

During the conference, University lecturers, as well as aquaculture professionals from Greece, Portugal, and France, presented the main outcomes of the project. These included the development of an interactive aquaculture education platform, as well as the associated innovative educational game. At the same time, attending university students and school pupils were informed about contemporary career prospects and employment opportunities in the rapidly growing aquaculture sector.

The event concluded with an open discussion, during which participants had the opportunity to engage with expert scientists and industry professionals, exchange views, and experience the project’s educational game firsthand.

The conference highlighted the importance of innovative education and the connection between academic knowledge, the labor market, and society — one of the key strategic priorities of the Agricultural University of Athens — making a meaningful contribution to informing and raising awareness among the younger generation about the future of aquaculture.
