Election of the New Rector and Appointment of the Vice-Rectors at the Agricultural University of Athens

On Thursday, 25 June 2026, the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) conducted the election process for the selection of its new Rector and the appointment of the University's Vice-Rectors. The election was held by means of a secret electronic ballot, with the participation of all eleven (11) members of the newly constituted University Governing Board.

Professor Emmanouil Flemetakis, a faculty member of the Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Biology and Biotechnology, and an internal member of the University Governing Board, was unanimously elected Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, receiving the support of all eleven (11/11) members of the Board.

On the same day, following the proposal of the newly elected Rector, the new Vice-Rectors of the Agricultural University of Athens were appointed as follows (in alphabetical order):

  1. Konstantinos Mountzouris, Professor, Department of Animal Science, School of Animal Biosciences.
  2. Thomas Bartzanas, Professor, Department of Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Engineering, School of Environment and Agricultural Engineering.
  3. Dimitrios Bilalis, Professor, Department of Crop Science, School of Plant Sciences.
  4. Dimitrios Tsitsigiannis, Professor, Department of Crop Science, School of Plant Sciences.

The new Rectorate will assume office on 1 September 2026.
