Announcement of the President of the Professional Chamber of Athens Mr. Ioannis Hatzitheodosiou, as an Honorary Doctor of the Agricultural University of Athens

On Monday, November 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., the Ceremony of Awarding Mr Ioannis Hatzitheodosiou, President of the Professional Chamber of Athens, as an Honorary Doctor of the Department of Agribusiness & Supply Chain Management of the Agricultural University of Athens, was held in the Ceremony Hall of the Agricultural University of Athens.

               The President of the Professional Chamber of Athens, in his speech, praised the role of Education and University Institutions in the great national effort for the development of the country. He made special reference to the need to support the primary sector and focused on the role of the Agricultural University of Athens and its scientific potential for the modernization of agricultural production.

     In his speech, the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce stated, among other things: "We want an agricultural entrepreneurship based on education and strengthening skills. Its development will give life to the Greek countryside and local communities. In this effort, the role of university education and research is valuable. The knowledge that is born and flourishes at the Agricultural University of Athens is valuable. Today, more than ever, the country needs scientists like those who graduate from this university. To step forward and drive the primary sector – and the entrepreneurship associated with it – into the future”.

               The President also proceeded to announce an important initiative that the Athens Chamber of Commerce will take in the near future:

"The Athens Chamber of Commerce will create an agricultural section, in order to contribute to the better promotion of the issues that concern our farmers", said Mr. Hatzitheodosiou.

               The ceremony started with the greeting from the Rector of the Agricultural University, Professor Spyridon Kintzios, and was followed by the presentation of the Honoree's work by the President Department of Agribusiness & Supply Chain Management of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor  Aikaterini Marinagi

               The announcement of the Honoree was followed by the reading of the texts of the Resolution of the Department by the President Prof. Aikaterini Marinagi, the reading of the Announcement and the Doctoral Diploma, and the dressing of Mr. Hadjitheodosiou by the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Prof. Spyridon Kintzios.

               The ceremony closed with the speech of the President of the Professional Chamber of Athens. The honoree thanked the Rectory Authorities of the Agricultural University of Athens for the special honor of being awarded an Honorary Doctorate.

               The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Mr. Konstantinos Karagounis, the deputies of PASOK-KINAL Mr. Panagiotis Doudonis, Mr. Manolis Christodoulakis and Mrs. Eleni Vatsina, the MP of SYRIZA-PS Mrs. Olga Gerovasili, the former Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Loukas Apostolidis, and the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michalis Sfakianakis - it is recalled that Mr. Hadzitheodosiou was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of University of Piraeus in April 2022.

               The President of GSEVEE and member of the Executive Board of the EEA Mr. Giorgos Kavvathas, the President of ESEE, Mr. Giorgos Karanikas, the President of the Athens Bar Association, Mr. Dimitris Vervesos, the President of the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece, Mr. Alexandros Sarrigeorgiou, the CEO of National Insurance, Mr. Dimitris Mazarakis, representatives of the local government, the chamber and business community were present. Members of the Administrative Committee and the Board of Directors of the Athens Chamber of Commerce  honored Mr. Hadzitheodosiou with their presence.
