Agricultural University of Athens participates in the action of support of Rural Development in Vamvakou, Laconia and Parnonas through the program "New Agriculture for the Young Generation" in collaboration with Vamvakou Revival, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

This annual program of scientific and business support that will be implemented by the Agricultural University of Athens and specifically by Ms. Economou Falia, Professor of the Laboratory of Agriculture and Director of the Institute for the Study and Promotion of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants and Mr. Mpizelis Iosif, Professor on the field of  Animal Production with Scientific Officer Mr. Nikolaos Derkas, Vice Rector for Administrative Affairs, Academic Affairs & Student Welfare, Professor of Land Improvement & Irrigation Management.

It includes targeted consulting and sustainable development activities, focusing on the sheep and goat industry and aromatic and medicinal plants - two areas of particular interest and growth potential, as the region has the necessary production volume and adequate human resources.

“NEW AGRICULTURE FOR A NEW GENERATION” PROGRAM

The “New Agriculture for a new Generation” program is an initiative that aims to create youth career opportunities and entrepreneurship in the agrofood sector in Greece.

Rutgers University is leading this innovative multiyear program, in partnership with the Agricultural University of Athens and the American Farm School.

The program us implemented through an exclusive grant from the Stavros Niarchos foundation.
