Agricultural University of Athens – Laboratory of Plant Breeding & Agricultural Experimentation: Distinction of Efstathia Lazaridi with the Christidis Award

With great pleasure and pride, we announce that Efstathia Lazaridi, a member of the Laboratory of Plant Breeding and Agricultural Experimentation of the Department of Plant Production Science of the Agricultural University of Athens, has been honored with the Christidis Award - Best Doctoral Thesis for the academic years 2023–2024.
The award was presented by the Hellenic Scientific Society for Plant Genetics and Breeding in the context of recognition of excellence and substantial contribution to the science of Plant Genetic Improvement.
The award-winning doctoral thesis of Efstathia Lazaridi, entitled “Characterization and evaluation of population variability of the species Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.” supervised by Professor Penelope Bebeli, was evaluated as the top one for the period 2023–2024, highlighting her significant scientific contribution in the field of plant breeding and agronomic research. The research contributes substantially to the understanding and utilization of genetic variability, with prospects for application in sustainable agricultural development.
This distinction constitutes a special honor both for the award recipient and for the Laboratory, confirming the high level of research and scientific excellence cultivated within the Department of Crop Science of the Agricultural University of Athens.
