The Agricultural University of Athens honored the contribution of its retired members of the academic community
In an atmosphere of emotion, respect and recognition, the Agricultural University of Athens held a ceremony on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Ceremonial Hall of the University, honoring the retired members of its teaching, research and administrative staff who retired from the University from the academic year 2021–2022 to the present.
The event constituted a modest expression of gratitude by the University towards individuals who, through their scientific excellence, integrity, dedication and continuous commitment, made a substantial contribution to the academic progress and development of the Agricultural University of Athens.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of the former Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Georgios Papadoulis, as well as the former Vice-Rectors of the University, Professors Epameinondas Paplomatas, Iordanis Chatzipavlidis and Georgios Papadakis.
A welcoming address was delivered by the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Spyridon Kintzios, who welcomed the attendees and expressed his warm appreciation to the retired members for their long-standing and valuable contribution to the educational, research and administrative life of the University.
The brief remarks delivered by several of the honorees were particularly moving, as they shared personal memories from their many years at the Agricultural University of Athens, expressed their gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon them and reflected on the strong bonds that continue to connect them with the University.
During the ceremony, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of deceased members of the University community. The presence of their relatives added a special emotional significance to the event, highlighting that the legacy and contribution of the people who served the University remain alive in its collective memory.
As part of the ceremony, commemorative gifts were presented to the retired members, as well as to the relatives of deceased members of the University, as a gesture of recognition and gratitude by the Agricultural University of Athens for their long-standing contribution.
The event concluded with a musical performance by the Music Workshop of the Agricultural University of Athens and a reception, providing attendees with the opportunity to reconnect, exchange thoughts and reminisce about moments from their shared journey.
Through this ceremony, the Agricultural University of Athens expressed its sincere gratitude to all those who served its mission with consistency and dedication, reaffirming that its history and enduring progress are inextricably linked to the knowledge, contribution and work of its people.
