1st summer school on Behavioral Economics

The 1st summer school on "Behavioral Economics" took place in September 20-23, 2022 at the Agricultural University of Athens, within the framework of the Η2020 project "Boosting Excellence in Experimental Research for Agri-Food Economics and Management" (AgriFoodBoost). Dr. Andreas Drichoutis, Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Agricultural University of Athens, serves as the scientific coordinator of the project and coordinated the summer school as well.

 

In this summer school, 21 people from 7 different countries participated: Italy, Greece, Croatia, China, England, Germany and the Netherlands. Dr. Achilleas Vassilopoulos, Assistant Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Agricultural University of Athens, introduced participants into the aspects of economic theory that can be enriched by the application of psychological theory and research. Thus, attendees were introduced to topics such as mental accounting, decoys, framing, present bias, procrastination, social preferences, loss aversion as well as other biases observed in making economic decisions with or without risk.
