Responsibilities

The Deanery of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences has the following roles and responsibilities:

  1. Has the general supervision of the operation of the School and its Departments
  2. Outlines the general educational and research policy of the School and the course of its development, within the framework of the University’s policy, and makes a regular report of the relevant activities
  3. Processes the suggestions set by the General Assemblies of the Departments regarding the need for new positions of academic staff (teaching, research, technical, laboratory etc.)and submits the relevant proposals to the Senate
  4. Distributes the regular budget funds to the Departments, Laboratories, Clinics and Museums of the School, in case these do not belong to a specific Department, according to the decisions of the Senate
  5. Suggests the conduct and coordinates the joint courses of Departments of the School with other Departments of the same or another School
  6. Gives an opinion on the program planning of the University, in the part that concerns the School
  7. Organizes and determines the mode of operation and the staffing of the services of the Dean’s Office
  8. Proposes to the Senate new positions of teaching and research staff, following the suggestions of the General Assemblies of the Departments
  9. Takes the initiative to develop synergies between Departments of the School or with Departments of other Schools, in order to enhance the interdisciplinary nature of the study programs.

 

The Dean of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences has the following roles and responsibilities:

  1. Convenes and chairs the meetings of both the General Assembly of the School and the Deanery, sets the meetings’ agendas, names either a General Assembly or a Deanery Member, respectively, as the rapporteur of the pertinent agenda subjects; provides for the implementation of all decisions, taken by the General Assembly and the Deaneryl of the School
  2. Supervises not only the implementation of the Regulations of Studies of the Departments, but also the compliance of the School with the current national legislation, the University Ordinance and its internal Regulation as a whole
  3. Presides over the Dean’s Office Services
  4. Constitutes ad hoc committees for the study or the conclusion of specific issues, falling under the Dean’s authority
  5. Participates in the University’s Committee of Postgraduate Studies.
