Visit of the delegation of the Agricultural University of Athens to Rutgers, The State University, New Jersey (USA)

The Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens Spyridon Kintzios, the Professor George Papadakis, Deputy Scientific Supervisor of the project "New Agriculture Sciences for the Young Generation" and members of the Physical Project Management Office of the program  Mrs Artemis Rigou and Mrs Catherine Papalexis, visited RUTGERS, THE STATE UNIVERSITY in New Brunswick, New Jersey (USA).

The delegation of the Agricultural University of Athens during the visit from January 13 to 16, 2020 had the opportunity to be hosted to the premises of the Food Innovation Centers (South & North) of Rutgers University by Mr. Nolan Lewin, Director. The delegation had also a meeting with the director of the New Jersey Agricultural Experimental Station (extension service), Dr. Brian Schilling and visited Rutgers Center for Ocean Observing Leadership.

The project "New Agriculture Sciences for Youth Generation", implemented through an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is an initiative to create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people in the agri-food sector in Greece. Rutgers University is co-ordinating this multi-annual and groundbreaking program in collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens and the American Agriculrure School.

As a evaluation of extroversion, the Agricultural University of Athens continues to expand its cooperations. The meeting of the Rector of AUA Mr. Kintziou and Mr. Papadakis with Prabhas Moghe, Provost of Rutgers University, Leon Segal (Director of Licensing, Office of Research Commercialization), Margaret Brennan, Deborah Perez-Fernandez (Office of Research and Economic Development), Paul Takhistov ( Dept. of Food Science), Jeffrey Robinson (Rutgers Business School, Director of the MBA Technology Commercialization, Innovation and Entrepreneurship) lays solid foundations for expanding the cooperation of the two Universities in the academic field such as the possibility of establishing joint undergraduate and / or undergraduate programs. Postgraduate studies in English, but also in research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
