Presentation of the Book entitled “The Greek Revolution 1821 -1830”

An honorary event for the presentation of the Book, entitled: “The Greek War of Independence 1821-1830” of Petros Pizanias, Emeritus Professor of History in the Department of History at the Ionian University, took place on Tuesday the 30th of September 2021, at the Conference Center Auditorium of the Agricultural University of Athens.

At the beginning of that special event, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Spyridon Kintzios, addressed a meaningful and thought-provoking greeting, and subsequently, Nikos Karapidakis, Professor at the Ionian University and the Director of the Greek literary magazine "Nea Estia", as well as the author Petros Pizanias, touched and discussed upon the various strands of this marvelous piece of written work.

Besides, the Historian Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos, Ph.D of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, in charge of the Documentation Centre of the History of Greek Agriculture of the Museum of Agriculture, introduced the book and coordinated the discussion in a much fruitful way.

As a matter of fact, the particular book is a scientific and historiographic proposal, pursuing the contribution to the rational and critical historical consciousness of contemporary Greek citizens. The Greek Nation has consolidated its political self-existence, by means of Revolution. The Greek people, counting on their own forces, had been seeking to cast off the Turkish yoke and gain both their political freedom and autonomy.

Undoubtedly, 1821 is a landmark date since the struggling subjugated people had been evolving into citizens of a national state. On top of that, pull quotes, short excerpts from texts of that historical period, enable readers to comprehend in the best possible way, the spirit of the warriors both simple unknown people and leaders.

After the completion of this special occasion, a reception was held, for all those present, at the courtyard of the Conference Center Auditorium.
