On Tuesday, February 14 2023, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Mr Spyridon Kintzios, Professor, participated setting his approach into the Session of the Special Permanent Committee of the Regions of the Hellenic Parliament. The issue of the agenda of that Session is described as follows: “Sustainable development of less developed areas, by means of the creation of new tourism resources and products, through analysis, documentation, modelling, management and conservation of the environmental reserve and the cultural assets, by applications of Information and communication technologies”.
The Special Permanent Committee of the Regions of the Hellenic Parliament aims at monitoring and informing the Hellenic Parliament of the functioning of the regional institutions of the State, specifically about planning and implementation issues that pertain to the political regional development. In particular, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens by elaborating his approach, has highlighted the need for gaining specialization on the part of every region and prefecture into a strategically separate and distinctive productive identity, in collaboration with the respective University Departments that are headquartered at these geographical areas. The Agricultural University of Athens was referred to his position as an example, wherein Departments are provided in two regions and four prefectures.
