Meeting of the Rectorate Authorities of the Agricultural University of Athens with the leadership of the non- profit organization “diaNEOsis”.

         On Thursday, February 16 2023, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Mr Spyridon Kintzios, Professor and the Vice Rector for Academic and Administrative Affairs, Lifelong Learning and Extroversion, Mr Emmanouil Flemetakis, Professor, met at the Rectorate Office of the Agricultural University of Athens, the Director-General, Mr Dionysios Nikolaou and the Research Director, Ms Fay Makantasi of the non- profit organization “diaNEOsis”.

   diaNEOsis is an independent, non – profit research Institute, which conducts studies and research work onto the important issues of our time, with a view to offering particular policy proposals. Besides, in-depth journalistic investigations are carried out laying emphasis on the documented analysis and comprehensive information provided.  Furthermore, it develops tools and initiatives in the area of the open public data, aiming at the collection, process and publication of such data.

  Throughout the particular meeting, the possibility for cooperation on multiple levels was found, especially on topics that pertain to agriculture and agrifood, such as the assessment and extension of the model of contractual agriculture, the drawing up of a national plan for food security and sovereignty, the study for price formation mechanism of foods from the field to the shelf, as well as the reduction of the phenomenon of food waste.

As far as the Agricultural University of Athens is concerned, these collaborative studies and accompanying actions fall within the central initiative of the Social Contract of the Institution, with the aim to support the vulnerable households against the increasing cost of foods, inasmuch the support of the producers’ income.
