On Friday, May 26 2023, an event for naming the Agricultural Museum after “Leonidas Louloudis” was held at the Conference Center of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), in recognition of the work offered by the late at the University.

At the event, the Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, Professor Mr. Spyridon Kintzios, has extended his speech. Afterwards, Mr. Charalambos Kasimis, Professor Emeritus and former General Secretary of Agricultural Policy & Management of EU Funds of the Ministry of Rural Development & Food, has delivered his speech, highlighting the considerable contribution and the decisive role performed by Leonidas Louloudis towards the creation, support and development of the Agricultural Museum of the Agricultural University of Athens.

Besides, Mr. Kasimis has mentioned the admiration for the visionary and courageous friend who used to focus on the big picture of the serious topics, viewing them in a critical light. At the end of his speech, he has paid particular tribute to the character of the late characterized by unfailing good humor, inasmuch acting in a spirit of openness, thus making him emerge as a personality with a creatively subversive attitude.

Subsequently, the Director of the Laboratory of Agricultural Extension of Rural Systems and Agricultural Sociology of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of AUA, Mr. Alexandros Koutsouris, Professor, being clearly touched, has featured a short CV presentation about the late, laying emphasis mainly on Leonidas Louloudis as a human being. He also referred to Louloudis’ passionately defending his ideas, being at the same time broad minded, aiming constantly at the development of his beliefs. Indeed, Mr. Koutsouris as he distinctively declared, “…Leonidas Louloudis has been a “public resource of intellectuality”. In other words, he has been a thoughtful man, who in addition to his own scientific work, was accustomed to showing concern and dealing with the more general problems of each and every occasion of the total current situations of the time, while also attempting by public rhetoric - public discourse to cultivate his listeners and/or readers with critical thinking  ….”

Finally, the naming inscription has been unveiled in the courtyard, in front of the Agricultural Museum following the wave of emotion for the distinguished member of the agricultural family, who has passed away before his time.
