The Rector’s Council

The Rector’s Council is a collective administrative body of each University, which consists of:

  • The Rector,
  • The Vice Rectors,
  • A students representative, who is selected by and is one of the elected students, who participate in the Senate,
  • The representative of the administrative personnel who participates in the Senate.

The Rector’s Council is constituted and operates legally, even if the students or the administrative personnel representatives, have not been appointed by voting. Indeed, in the case of a tied vote, the opinion that the Rector is in favor of, takes precedence.

In a few words, the Rector’s Council performs all the responsibilities, as prescribed in the article 14, (2) of the Law 4485/2017, besides any other tasks, assigned by the AUA Senate, for a specific period of time, with the reasoned decision of the overarching instrument of the AUA, as provided for, in the Official Government Gazette, (no 846 B’ of 12.03.2019), and all the other functions, pursuant to the provisions of the Law 4485/2017 (the Greek Government Gazette, no.114 A’), of the  Organisation and the Internal Regulations of the Educational Institution, respectively.
