Participation of the running team of the Agricultural University of Athens in the 13th Athens Half Marathon
On Sunday, March 9, 2025, the running team of the Agricultural University of Athens "AUA RUNNING TEAM" participated in the 13th Athens Half Marathon with a large number of runners who ran on the Half Marathon routes (21 km) as well as the 5 km OPAP.
As always, this year's event was attended by many students from all Departments of the University (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, Erasmus), many faculty members and staff from each Department.
The "AUA RUNNING TEAM" running team was honored, as always, with the presence of the Rector's Authorities, and specifically the Vice-Rector of the European University, Internationalization and Student Affairs, Professor Eleni Miliou.
The team was coordinated by Physical Education Professor Polyxeni Tsaliagkou, a founding member of the “AUA RUNNING TEAM”. Also, Professor Dionysios Kalyvas and Assistant Professor Konstantinos Soulis, founding members of the “AUA RUNNING TEAM”, participated in the running event and supported all the runners, who exceeded 100. The preparation for participation in the event was also supported by the Physical Education Professor, seconded to the AUA, Mrs Georgia Athanasopoulou.
After the huge participation of runners in the UNIVERSITIES NIGHT RUN 5 km, last November, as part of the Authentic Athens Marathon, the large participation in the 13th Athens Half Marathon, as well as the constant influx of new members into the group of runners, indicates that the intention and internal motivation for lifelong healthy lifestyle choices and any type of Physical Activity is being strongly created. The need for participation in joint actions between peers (students, professors, staff) and interaction between them has penetrated the AUA University community, has now become a necessity for those who belong to it and indicates a change in culture towards a Physically Active Life.
The running team of the Agricultural University of Athens "AUA RUNNING TEAM" will continue its activities and invites the entire university community to participate.
