The Agricultural University participated by providing its auspices and a multitude of interventions in the two-day (March 7-8) Scientific Conference "Business with Health and Intelligence" which was co-organized by the Region of Western Greece, the Municipality of Agrinio, ELGO-Dimitra and the AUA. From the Agricultural University, the Rector Spyros Kintzios and Professors Dimitris Savvas, Dean of the School of Plant Science, Georgios Papadakis, Konstantinos Aliferis and Stefanos Kalogirou participated as keynote speakers.

More than 10% of domestic livestock farming is carried out in the Region of Western Greece, supporting more than 12,000 local businesses, while at the same time more than 1.6 million acres are cultivated with an emphasis on olive cultivation and fodder plants, a sector particularly important for Greece. In addition to the presentation of cutting-edge technologies with particular interest for the products of the Region, during the Conference, the fact that decentralization, rural reform and the retargeting of agricultural policy must be a priority of our national planning was particularly emphasized.

In support of the launch of the University's strategic cooperation with the Region, the visit of the Deputy Regional Governor for Rural Development Andreas Filias to the Rectorate of the AUA followed, where the prospects for partnership were discussed, among other things, in matters of training farmers and creating new quality standards for the agri-food products of the Region of Western Greece.
