«Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR SWG AKIS4)»
The Agricultural University of Athens, on the initiative of the Laboratory of Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Systems & Rural Sociology, in collaboration with the National Rural Network of the Rural Development Program 2014-2020 hosted the 8th meeting of the Strategic Working Group on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR SWG AKIS4) from Feb 28th to March 1st. The SWG comprises representatives from all the EU Member States with the mandate to advice the European Commission and Member States on the coordination of research in agriculture.
Prof Epam. Paplomatas, Vice-Rector, and Prof. Ch. Kassimis, General Secretary of Agricultural Policy & Management of Community Funds of the Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development & Food, addressed and warmly welcomed the SWG stressing the importance of the topic (AKIS) in view to the EU communication (November 2017) according to which «A modern CAP should support the strengthening of farm advisory services within the AKIS systems. This should become a condition for the approval of CAP Strategic Plans».
