We are pleased to give you some general information on  the Advanced Workshop which will also appear regularly on the working group web site:   http://www.ewrs.org/weedmapping/default.asp

The aims are:

  1. an update of the existing scientific community on the technical and scientific progress in mapping science
  2. the documentation of practical aspects and the demonstration of innovative mapping tools in the field
  3. a discussion of weed mapping as part of digital farming

Target Group:

30 PhD and Post doc students, experienced “weed” and “plant ecology” scientists and a limited number of professionals.

Scientific programme:

The workshop aims to be informal and so stimulate as much discussion as possible among participants. We will combine plenary scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations, practical training on field using novel tools in weed mapping and training in class on weed maps production using software and geodatabase.

Below is the list of topics:

  • Phytosociology and weed science
  • Spatial issues in weed distribution and weed shifts
  • Novel detection tools in weed mapping
  • Mapping of invasive weeds / resistant weeds / rare weeds
  • Data processing
  • Spatial interpolation, geostatistics and regional mapping
  • Advances in precision weed mapping. Automatic systems for weed monitoring
  • Transfer of field data into available software and databases
  • State-of-the-art of SDSS (spatial decision support systems)

You are invited to express your interest by sending your early bird registration via the web site: https://confer.maich.gr/registrations/weed_2019  along with the proposed title and name(s) of author(s) at your earliest convenience but no later than  May 15th

Important dates:

  • Decision on accepted contributions by April 15
  • April 15 to May 15 Early bird registration
  • Expected payments for early bird registration by May 31

Submission of Abstracts:

The abstracts should be reported to research and empirical data which will cover the aims of the workshop such as,
  1. the update of the existing technical and scientific progress in mapping science
  2. the documentation of practical aspects of mapping tools in the field
  3. the weed mapping as part of digital farming
